Baby’s Home in Ibanda

I’m going to take a break from posts about Puda until the completed report is finished. Let’s leave the NE corner of Uganda and go to the South West! I wanted to tell you about Baby’s Home in Ibanda.

Road surrounded by Banana Plantations... Diana's running path

Ibanda is where Diana is living and working in the Peace Corp.   It is so beautiful there, the green rolling hills are so different than the flat lands in the north, it’s the SW where all the banana trees are.  Diana opened a bakery there that I will write another post about but in her free time she hangs out with a lot of her neighbors.

Just a mile or two down the street a group of nuns run “Baby’s Home”.

When I told Diana a college friend of mine donated a box of baby medical/firstaid equipment she knew just who could best use it, which meant we got to go oto Baby’s Home.  So So fun!  Most the kids there are abandoned, orphaned or have parents too poor to care for them.  When they get older the sister told us they move to Watoto, the same organization Joe and I worked with in our first trip to Uganda 2 years ago! We actually have a bunch of friends there now.

When we got off the Boda’s at Baby’s Home a sea of toddlers came running at us.  It was so fun.  Everywhere you walk they all cling to your, they especially loved the sister who ran the place.  She is the one we gave the Clarks’ gift to!

Giving sister the medical donation was funny cause she just handed most everything to the kids to see.

It’s funny, but the Sister handed all the thermometers to the kids to look at so they were holding them.  Diana is going to go back to explain what all of the first aid things are.  “Teathing Medicine” wasn’t translating, ,funny what does and doesn’t make sense.

Thanks Clark Family!  Your donation is really going to help in the care of LOTs of babies!   We only saw a few but there are over 50 kids there, we only saw 3 of the babies.  They were new in and suffering some malnutrition.

    Hullo People,
I am called Busingye Mathias Handy , I have a Brother of mine who opened up a nursary and primary school in our village area, But he faces a problem of delay in school fees and some pay half and others even fail to pay. To some extent some of the pupils are forgiven there debts and continue to study but some how it becomes difficult because there has to be money to run the school. If there is anyone out there willing to help these small children you are welcome or if there is any one willing to sponsor my brothers school so that some of those children who can not afford to pay can learn for free. Or may be you can volonteer for us in finding people who can pick some children and pay for them so that they can have education. Many children are dropping out of school.
The School has spent like 5yrs in opperation, It started as a nursary and now its on Primary 4 as in classes.
Any one willing to help you can get back to me on.

For sure i feel attached when i look at such kind of Godly given gifts to the earth. I mean children in that babies home, the babies home is in my home village, so when ever i am in the holiday and i look at those children i say thank you God for the life of these beautiful children. It makes me to always recall omy dream of starting an orphanage at my home place in future.
I thank you people for what ever you are doing for the babies who are in that babies home, may God bless you abundantly.

If you want children to keep their feet on the ground, put some responsibility on their shoulders.
Sister we thank you for your care
