in case you missed it, the fastest wedding ever

I remember when Robert moved to DC a couple of years ago. He had less tattoos than he does now. He has always been amazing with his words, a really thoughtful speaker. He also brought a lot of style to DC, where we are about the most drab dressers, sad but true.

I also remember when he started talking about this awesome girl Emily. He would disappear for weekends and come back looking smitten. Emily really captured Bert’s heart. Once I met Emily I understood how loveable she was. Emily is one of the sweetest people I’ve met, maybe ever.

Emily got closer and closer to finishing school, Robert got more tattoos, and these lovies kept going strong.  I love these two people.

Robert and Emily are stylish, fun, adventerous and cool.  Robert is a musician, poet, Airman, and all around good man.  Emily is a designer, with an eye for style as evident with how stunning she looks here. Their wedding could not have been more perfect! It was a super hot day to start off, the sun was out and blazing. The plan was to have Robert’s Dad marry them on top of a hill in a park, in a beautiful peaceful grove in the summer sunshine. That was the plan…. and I love when plans fall apart and the couple embraces it!

While all the guests headed up to the grove, Emily walked up behind Robert for a private first look they could share before walking into the grove.

Then they followed a beautiful path up to the ceremony, it was the only time they spent done up and dry…

The very minute they reached the grove, the winds picked up and the bridal party hurried into place. I love that Robert walked his bride in!

Roberts father, who married them, decided not to postpone the ceremony. Guests were looking up at the coming clouds getting ready to run for cover and that is how the 30 second to one minute ceremony happened. Yelling over gusty winds and getting freckled by the rain, the whole party stayed enjoying the sudden storm that came perfectly with the ceremony.

Then everyone went running for cover, except the bridal party who paused for a couple amazing shots (courtesy of Joe).

Then…  the sky opened up! It was amazing!

And everyone was soaked. But that wasn’t the end of the drama… the power in the reception hall, went out! Here is the lovely wedding party!

The absolutly most beautiful part of this wedding was that I did not hear one complaint! Everyone almost seemed tickled by how soaked they were, and we were SOAKED, to the core! Emily and Robert just embraced this perfect day and they looked hot through it!

The Winship wedding was pure perfection, one I will not forget!
